Reflections is a National PTA arts program that gives students the opportunity to express themselves in any of the following areas:
- Visual Arts (drawing, painting, sculpture, metal etching, etc.)
- Photography
- Literature
- Music Composition
- Dance Choreography
- Video Production
Students have from the start of the school year to create new a piece of artwork inspired by this year’s theme. One entry may be submitted per student. Every submission needs to be the original work of only one student, and must follow PTA Reflections rules. The entries will be judged on interpretation of the theme, originality, and creativity. Up to three pieces in each category will be selected by the judges to be a part of the Jefferson County PTA display at Red Rocks Community College; pieces selected there may go on to state or national judging.
The West Jefferson Middle School PTA wants to give our students the opportunity to express themselves and their talents in as many ways as possible! We’re excited to see what our talented students create for this program.
Please refer to the following documents as students prepare their submissions:
- 2018 Reflections information handout
- 2018-2019 National Reflections rules
- 2018 Reflections entry form (a completed form must be turned in with each entry)
All pieces need to be submitted no later than October 3, 2018. Any additional questions may be directed to Jennifer Burtis at jenniferburtis@yahoo.com.
A Note for Families: This program is age-based,and should be age-appropriate. A student’s best work may include crooked lines or misspelled words. You may give them feedback—for example, showing them how to brainstorm ideas or suggesting that they proofread their pieces, but please be sure that their final effort is truly their own work of art.
