Musical notationZupko Music Composition

Professional composer Dr. Mischa Zupko has joined forces with Ms. Laura Garrison, our instrumental music teacher, to secure a commission of a new piece of music, written specifically by and for our West Jeff Middle music students. Upon completion, this piece of original music will be rehearsed, published, and the students will perform a world premiere during the 2018-2019 school year.

Dr. Zupko will be visiting our school in March 2018 to begin speaking with the students about the topic and themes for the piece. Some themes being considered are multiculturalism or kindness and acceptance, but the final theme will be determined by Dr. Zupko's initial discussions and workshops with the students. He will visit our school twice during the 2018-2019 school year to collaborate with the students on the final composition, and he will be in Colorado for the world premiere (date TBD).

We are extremely excited to be working with Dr. Zupko and it will be a tremendous opportunity for our students. In total, we are hoping to raise $5,000-6,000 to support this project. Please consider donating to support this once in a lifetime experience for our students. All donations will be tax-deductible!
